Dr. Belgrad Kenne is an all rounder, transformative leader with a rich and diverse track record in solutioning through unique analytical capabilities, innovative deal structuring and excellent communication skills. He is an astute negotiator and influencer with a proven ability to lead, motivate and build successful teams while maintaining a pragmatic approach to getting required results.
Belgrad’s experience is a unique combination of strategy, structured finance and operational experience across multiple sectors including financial services, retail, airlines, manufacturing, power generation, hospitality, agri-business, logistic and most recently healthcare. Belgrad is bilingual in English and French having lived and worked in France, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya where he is a permanent resident.
Belgrad previously served as Deputy Chief Executive of The Karen Hospital health system comprising of a multi specialty hospital, 9 branches, a medical training college and a foundation. He is credited for the formulation and successful implementation of “The Karen 2.0” a medium term, turnaround 3-year strategy that led to 14% normalized top line growth and doubled EBITDA margins while improving shareholders’ value by over 30%.
Belgrad is the founding patron of The Karen Hospital Football Club (TKHFC) an FKF licensed club that recently won the Kenya Inter-Hospital 2022 championship.
Prior to joining The Karen Hospital, Belgrad was head of Corporate Finance and Advisory at Afrika Investment Bank now AIB-AXYS following its merger with the Mauritius Investment group AXYS where he was responsible for all aspects of investment banking transactions including business advisory, M&A planning and execution, deal structuring and negotiations, business valuation, debt and equity capital raising. Over his 5 years stint at AIB, Belgrad was involved on assignments with over 50 medium and large corporates operating in Kenya and East Africa across diverse sectors.
